Temporal Reality Dissonance
It happened 60 years early
My science fiction cyberthriller, Two Thirds of a God, was published in March of 2025. It is set in the 2080s. At the end of the book, I included the opening chapters of the sequel, Three Lesser Gods, which has not yet been published.
In the opening chapter of Three Lesser Gods, a member of Congress calls a suicide hotline, telling them she is definitely not suicidal, and if she is found to have seemingly committed suicide, they should reject the idea. I thought of it as one of the more outlandish ideas in the book, a scene you’d find in a thriller, but almost certainly would never happen in real life.
Imagine my surprise when it did happen! On September 29, 2025, as the effort to force the release of the Epstein files heated up, we learned that Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene had posted this on her X account:
“I am not suicidal and one of the happiest healthiest people you will meet. … With that said, if something happens to me, I ask you all to find out which foreign government or powerful people would take heinous actions to stop the information from coming out.”
My initial reaction was, Come on, reality! Stay in your lane! But, of course, there’s nothing we can do about what the world presents us.
It’s not important in the grand scheme of things, but I wanted you to know that the plot of Three Lesser Gods was not “ripped from the headlines.” The order in which the events occurred was actually the other way around.
In case you are interested, I’ve linked an article below from the Congressional news site The Hill about Greene’s message:

That’s wild! Your novel is prescient.
